SECURITY MANAGER

The Security Manager will manage campus-wide security by implementing public safety measures and ensuring law and order is maintained and life and property are protected: plan, organize, and implement security programs, including emergency and disaster planning processes; evaluate existing security systems and make recommendations for changes in equipment and procedures; conduct comprehensive investigations of alleged violations of criminal law and prepare reports detailing activities and findings, supervise the conduct of other confidential investigations; perform various crime prevention duties such as security surveys, conducting orientations, and providing security advice to individuals; cooperate with external law enforcement agencies to investigate irregularities in security; select, train, and direct the activities of up to 10 subordinate staff; participate in the development of training programs relevant to security, disaster/emergency preparedness, and public safety; develop and make recommendations related to operating policies and objectives; develop budget for the department and allocate funds within budget limits to accomplish objectives; and establish effective communication with faculty, staff, students, community, and other law enforcement agencies.

 

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.  Five years in law enforcement, criminal justice, or business management, preferably in a university or hospital setting. Experience in disaster/emergency preparedness.  Demonstrated skills in leadership, teambuilding, supervision, and training.  Security Guard card, Firearms permit, Valid California Driver’s License, PR-24, Tear Gas, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Card, and First Aid Card.

Police Records Supervisor

$4.010  - $5,003/month Plus benefits

The Torrance Police Department Records Division is seeking an individual who works well in a fast paced environment. This position organizes, plans, and

supervises a shift of up to ten records clerks. Three years experience in a police records operation is required and one year in a lead or supervisory capacity is

desirable. Knowledge of procedures and clerical techniques involved in classifying, filing, indexing, controlling a large volume of records and report as well as State mandated filing purging requirement relative to police records.

Must be able to carryout complex assignments from oral and written directions and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with the public and subordinates and police officers. Desirable knowledge

includes: California State Codes, Court decisions relative to police recordkeeping requirements and Department of Justice automated files.
